5 Foods for Healthier Skin

I found it in health.yahoo.com. Interesting..  sambil mengunyah almond.. sambil carik info about it.. hmm nyum nyum.. Am addicted to almond.. rite now rite here.. :D

You can invest half your paycheck in serums and creams - even splurge on dermal fillers and pricey facials - but none of it will get you far without a skin-friendly diet.

Of course, your skin (and the rest of you, for that matter) is best served by a well-rounded diet, including healthy fats, sufficient protein, and lots of fruits and vegetables. But there are a few nutritional standouts that make particularly important contributions to strong, glowing skin:

1. Fish: Fatty fish like salmon, tilapia, and cod are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. And that’s a good thing, because our bodies cannot produce those essential lipids naturally. By adding omega-3s to your diet, though, you can bolster your skin barrier – that is, the layer of lipids that holds onto moisture and keeps irritants out.

There is even evidence that the skin-strengthening effects of omega-3s can improve chronic skin conditions like rosacea and atopic dermatitis, but more research is necessary to confirm that link.

Furthermore, many types of fish (like, once again, salmon and cod) are rich in vitamin D - as dermatologists increasingly emphasize sun avoidance, we also need to emphasize the importance of finding other sources of this vitamin, which is produced during sun exposure.

Don’t eat fish? Many eggs are now fortified with omega-3 fatty acids, and plant sources include flax seed and flax seed oil, walnuts, pecans, and hazelnuts. And a daily vitamin D supplement is a good idea for vegans and meat-eaters alike.

2. Green Tea: It’s inexpensive, easy to add to your routine, and one of the best-researched and most powerful antioxidants around. That’s why green tea is my go-to antioxidant: I drink at least three cups a day to fight aging and inflammation. Some studies even suggest that the antioxidants in green tea reduce one’s risk of skin cancer. So put down that soda and start drinking your way to healthier skin!

3. Broccoli: Rich in vitamins A, C, and K (among many other nutrients), this veggie does more than its fair share of nutritional work. Vitamin A decreases oil production, vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, and vitamin K can help prevent bruises. So whatever ails you, this green wonderfood might be just what the doctor ordered.

4. Safflower or Sunflower Oil: Omega-3s get a lot more talk, but omega-6 fatty acids - like the linoleic acid in these two oils - are also important for healthy skin. Like omega-3s, they help prevent dry skin and inflammation; they’re also essential for the formation of prostaglandins, hormones that keep all the cells of the body functioning well.

While many diets are actually quite high in omega-6s - sometimes even too high - the key is to get the good ones and not unhealthy versions, like hydrogenated oils. So try sautéing your salmon or broccoli in a little safflower or sunflower oil and double those skin-soothing benefits!

5. Almonds: When it comes to boosting skin’s defenses against aging, inflammation, and even skin cancer, antioxidants are so important that I’m going to add another to my list: A handful of almonds every day boosts your levels of vitamin E, one of the most important antioxidants for skin health. Studies also suggest that consuming vitamin E orally can increase the levels of this moisturizing vitamin on your skin’s surface - great news for anyone prone to dry skin.

Wishing you great skin (and bon appetit)!

Old School gathering..

Entry about my team building belum sempat nak menaip dekat sini.. last weekend another event.. Gathering dengan kawan-kawan sekolah menengah aku dekat Ilham Resort, Tanjung Biru, PD. Hmm probably can scratch a bit now and here..

Friday.. after work, am packing all my things into my backpack. Mak, abah, adik, kak ila and hidayah ikut sama ke gathering ini. Lepas solat magrib kami bertolak. Husband kak ila tak dapat cuti.. and he allowed kak ila to go with me.. Kami semua excited dapat bawak hidayah jalan-jalan… Hidayah's First Step
nak bawak hidayah mandi dekat pool.. aku rasa sure dia akan suka. :D “Nanti auntie bawa hidayah pi mandi kat pool nyer.. ” (kalau hidayah pandai jalan lagi best..nanti nak ajar hidayah pi snorkeling boleh tak. hehehe )

Sampai dekat PD about 10 something.. supper kat restaurant tepi jalan jap, lepas tuh kami check in kat Ilham Resort. hmm Aprtment dia cantik.. yang best panorama dari tingkap hall and bilik air yang ada balkoni menghadap pool and laut. Whatever it is. hari dah malam.. nanti nyamuk pulakk.. so kena tutup balik tingkap. nak plak resort nih betul2 sebelah hutan rekreasi (utk jungle trecking kot.. ee lama dah tak pi jungle trecking)..

Saturday morning.. kawan-kawan aku bertolak dari rumah masing2. Antara yang datang Azma, husband, the brother and 2 kids, Nazrin, husband, the sister and 4 kids, Izwan, Wife and kid, Along (Izan Izamuddin), wife brother and kid, Abai, and Pudin.. Hmm anak Nazrin pun dah 4 orang.. (besar dan meriah keluarga dia.. ) even anak azma pun dua2 girl.. dua2 suka warna pink.. just like Misya, my niece. Lembut, sopan anak azma the second.. very sweet.. (mengingatkan aku pada Misya.. i miss her so much. :( ) After 2pm kwn2 aku bawak anak2 dorang mandi kat swimming pool, dorang pun tak sabar nak terjun kesitu.. Lewat petang.. aku main layang-layang.. hmm tapi sayang angin tak berapa nak ada. Layang-Layang tuh kak ila beli pagi tadi masa aku dengan dia pi beli barang untuk melengkapkan menu bbq dinner malam nanti.. banyak tempat kami stop.. sampai abah call dari rumah penginapan..

Dinner, aku dah tempah bbq set dengan resort. hmm tempat pun ok and cantik.. aku buat, marinated sesame chicken, veggie salads, potato jacket, sausages, burger, and thousand island (homemade), Pudin bawak ikan siakap and marinated honey chicken, Izwan bawak nasi putih.. Tukang bakar husband Azma (Shariman) and husband Nazrin (Mel), sesekali pudin joint and tolong skali. Husband dorang sempoi and ok.. siap bagi pelepasan lagi.. because after dinner kami ada meeting aka gossiping session kat bilik atas. Sambil sembang2 cerita lama… sambil minum air and makan kacang. Izwan, Along, Pudin and abai menyewa kat bilik tingkat atas.. hari tuh aku cuba apply 2 aptmt.. hmmm tapi tak dapat.. Company aku approved untuk 1 rumah ajer.. murah giler less than Rm50.. tapi kawan2 aku menyewa and they hv to pay RM460 for one aprtmt. Aprtmet yang sama. Alahai kesian dorang. ( tapi dorang banyak duit.. hahaha tak der hal punyer ) Sembang sampai awal pagi..

Sunday morning.. kami ramai2 turun dari dua buah rumah.. ramai2 layan swimming pool, sambil kawan-kawan yang lain dok melayan anak masing-masing.. 1pm kami keluar and bergambar ramai sebelum balik… Keluar dari resort.. aku ke arah seremban.. Singgah rumah Mak Long and Pak Long.. rindu dah dengan dorang.. lama aku tak jumpa. Mak kata hari tuh masa mak balik kampung.. dorang tanya pasal aku.. ala2 pelik because mak and abah aku balik tanpa aku. Biasanya aku yang bawak mak and abah kemana-mana. Balik rumah aku terbungkam awal.. sedar pukul 4am, solat isyak.. sambung tidor balik. ahaks..
